Rabindra Jayanti Celebration
“Where the mind is without fear,
and the head is held high.”
These words which were written long before by a great poet who was also a columnist, editor, writer, dramatist, novelist, a
painter, and a true genius, have aroused each our hearts and still echo in our
ears. Yes, he is none other than the Nobel Laureate Gurudev Rabindranath
Tagore. He was born on May 7, 1861 in Kolkata's Jorasanko Thakurbari in a
Pirali Brahmin family. This day marked the birth of a great genius in the
history of mankind.
This day i.e,
09.05.2018, was celebrated by the students of Narmada House of St. Xavier’s
High School, Deoghar to mark the birth anniversary of Gurudev. The programme
started with the school principal, Dr. N Santhosh Kumar and other incharges
paying their respects by offering flowers to Gurudev's portrait. The ceremony
became even more auspicious when the lamp was lit.
The sheer
dedication of children of the entire school made it a grand celebration. The
programme began with an informative speech on Rabindranath Tagore by Muskan of
Class X. This was followed by the enactment of Tagore’s very famous and heart
touching story “Kabuliwala”. Further, students of the Primary wing presented a
beautiful folk dance on the song composed by Tagore.
Then Shweta and
Anmol of class IX sang a song leaving all wonderstruck.
The programme
concluded with principal’s inspiring speech and then everyone sang the National
Song in unison. The whole programme gave a wonderful insight on the life and
works of Gurudev.
